Why The Dose Is What It Is
A hard, hot or busy hour drains 500 to 700mg of sodium. Most drinks give you 200 to 300. This closes the gap, not half of it.
Sodium plays a pivotal role in hydration. It increases fluid absorption, fluid retention, maintains electrolyte balance and stimulates thirst, thus increasing fluid intake. Research shows that drinks containing sodium can improve endurance, mood, and reaction times, whilst reducing the risk of cramps and hyponatremia.
Potassium works closely with sodium to maintain normal cellular fluid balance, nerve impulses, and muscle contractions. Potassium chloride specifically may counteract the effects of too much sodium, maintaining a healthy electrolyte balance.
Magnesium is imperative for over 300 enzymatic reactions, including those that produce and use ATP, the body's energy currency. It aids hydration by moving water into cells, essential for muscle function, energy, and performance.
