Is Cadence™ Electrolyte Hydration Vegan?

Introduction

One question that often comes up is whether our electrolyte drink is vegan. The short answer to this is yes, Cadence Electrolyte Hydration is vegan. However, at Cadence™ we believe in full transparency and education surrounding the science of our drink. This article will therefore break down the various components of our vegan electrolyte drink.

How is Vegan defined?

Vegan food and drinks are those that do not contain any animal products or byproducts. This means no meat, dairy, eggs, or any other substances derived from animals. Vegan food and drinks are generally all derived from plant-based ingredients, including vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes.

Many vegan products also include alternatives to animal-based ingredients, such as plant milks (e.g., almond, soy, oat), meat substitutes made from soy, peas, or wheat proteins, and vegan cheeses made from nuts or soy. The emphasis is on consuming products that are ethically sourced and do not contribute to animal exploitation or harm.

Vegan Electrolyte Food Sources

If you’re looking for vegan food sources that are high in electrolytes, then you should explore the following options:

  • Coconut Water - High in potassium, magnesium, and sodium.
  • Bananas - Well known for their high potassium content.
  • Sweet Potatoes - Rich in potassium and magnesium when baked with skin on.
  • Spinach - Offers magnesium, potassium, and calcium.
  • Avocados - A good source of potassium and magnesium.
  • White Beans - High in potassium and magnesium, and some calcium.
  • Lentils - Contain good amounts of potassium and magnesium.
  • Almonds - Rich in magnesium and potassium.
  • Tofu - Provides magnesium and calcium.
  • Dried Apricots - High in potassium.

  • Kale - Provides calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

Our Active Ingredients

Our electrolyte drink is made up of 8 total ingredients, all of which are vegan. The three main electrolytes, namely Salt, Magnesium Lactate and Potassium Chloride are all vegan as they are not sourced or derived from animals

Are Our Flavourings Vegan?

In order to flavour our electrolyte drink, we only use all-natural and vegan flavourings.

Lemon Sicily Wash Flavouring

One of the main flavours in our citrus electrolyte drink is Lemon Sicily Wash Flavouring, an extract taken from Sicilian lemons, which are known for their intense aroma and slightly sweeter, less acidic taste compared to other lemon varieties. This flavour is 100% vegan.

Lime Persian Type Extract

In order to achieve a light lime flavour in our citrus electrolyte drink, we incorporated Lime Persian Type Extract, a natural extract from Persian limes, also known as Tahiti limes, which are larger and less acidic than key limes, with a thicker skin. This flavour is also 100% vegan.

Citric Acid

Citric acid is considered vegan since it is derived from the fermentation of carbohydrates found in fruits like lemons and oranges.

Stevia

Stevia is an all-natural and vegan sweetener derived from the leaves of the plant species Stevia rebaudiana, which is native to Brazil and Paraguay. It is a popular sugar substitute because it provides a sweet taste without the calories associated with sugar, making it an attractive option for those managing their calorie intake or with conditions like diabetes. We chose to include Stevia in our drink due to its natural sourcing, compared to other drinks on the market which incorporate artificial sweeteners.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Cadence™ Electrolyte Hydration not only meets the criteria for being vegan by excluding any animal products or byproducts in its formulation, but it also ensures that all ingredients, including natural flavorings and sweeteners, adhere to vegan standards.

This makes Cadence™ Electrolyte Hydration a fantastic vegan electrolyte drink option for anyone on a plant-based diet.
